The Lovers
The Lovers is a romantic, funny, fight-y love story about two people who appear to be utterly wrong for each other - yet may just be utterly right. SEAMUS is a suave, sophisticated journalist and broadcaster from London with a beautiful movie star girlfriend and a golden future. JANET is a bad-tempered grocery store worker from Belfast with an exasperated boss, an estranged ex-husband and a death wish. When Seamus drops into Janet's world (literally over the wall and into her backyard) they instantly clash. About everything. He's an atheist, she's a Christian. He's obsessed with politics, she loves reality TV and never watches the news. Yet somehow, they find themselves inextricably drawn to each other. In Janet, Seamus finds somebody unapologetic and real - the most refreshing antidote to his glossy world. And in Seamus, Janet finds hope, and somebody who falls in love with her for who she is. But they are the oddest of Odd Couples. They drive each other totally mad and argue endlessly. Over time, their undeniable love for each other leads them to face certain truths... truths they would rather have kept hidden from themselves and the outside world. And truths that could drive them apart.
